Adams Courtyard House

Hunckered into the hillside, this courtyard house is designed to provide protection from the cold south east weather and to open up to the warmth of the sun in cooler months.

One of the architect's earliest designs for South Australian conditions, it is constructed with recycled stone and brick and includes salvaged timbers in the interior finishes.

The courtyard is designed to be both inward looking and sheltering and to open to views and sunlight.

The largest windows face north for solar gain.
