Christie Walk Solar Townhouses

'Christie Walk' is named for the long-time social and environmental activist, Scott Christie, partner of Joan Carlin, part of the community of people who have initiated and sustained this unique development.

The townhouses at Christie Walk are 3 storeys high, in a terrace of four. They are 'classic' solar houses, letting in winter sun for warmth whilst providing shade in the warmer months. The buildings will function best when the air-conditioners finish growing - they are designed to be covered with vegetation.

Constructed from 300mm Autoclaved Aerated Concrete with R3-4 roof insulation and double glazing throughout, the houses are designed to act as 'thermal flues' to exhaust heat when required. Non-toxic, healthy building techniques were adopted as a priority.

A community of individualists have contributed to the design, development and construction of Christie Walk in a commitment to the human values of urban living and ecologicial responsibility.
